2- Humility: Respect others, even if you are excellent or better than the others, young optometrists may know what you don't know, give them respect and they'll honor you equally. Also, be respectful to patients, respect their cultural values and religious views or at least try to abstain from showing your personal likings or dislikings.
3- Money is not everything: You are an optometrist, It is not an ordinary job, you are treating humans. You make them able to see better, you bring big change to people's life. Be more concentrated on earning their respect. Earn a good name.
4- Passion: Love your work, do it with passion and zeal.
5- Details: Pay attention to details, you may diagnose a case with only one hidden word or sign. Listen to patients. They may be irrelevant at times, try to make them focus so that you may find what you need to find.
6- Responsibility: Be responsible in every action you make as I said before it is not an ordinary job. Take responsibility of the things that are dependent on you. Be punctual at work. Fulfill your appointments, deliver with honesty, be up to the expectations. Never disappoint your patients and your employers. Obey rules of your job.
7- Communication skills: If you have time you can take a communication skills course, you should deliver good and bad news or advises for patients in a right manner. It is a good idea to learn words from other languages spoken around in the locality of your work place.
8- Time management: You should manage your time between your work and your family and yourself, you are not a machine, Enjoy your life.
9- Be Patient: Don't hurry up, If you are good optometrist you will be famous one day. Just keep delivering good and quality work consistently.
10- Marketing: You should search about new ways of marketing. Make it easier for people to find you.
